Music Theory for Drummers is a course designed to give drummers an edge in connecting with the musicians around them, enabling them to make a higher level of musical contribution. At a certain point in a drummer's development, it becomes essential to look beyond the drums and gain a deeper understanding of harmony, melody, and the formal structures other musicians are creating. Developing an informed ear for harmony and various aspects of music theory is a critical step that allows us to connect more deeply with our fellow musicians—and ultimately with our listeners.

This course will include training on voice leading techniques, harmonic and formal analysis in both jazz and classical music I have studied over the past 20 years, both as an undergraduate and graduate student, as well as taught during my time as a professor.
